Well, Just dont be too serious, i dont care what Ben said, i also dont care what Asa said, (he kept attacking Linux in recent blogs, altho what he said is kinda right). This is blog, personal space, not hired by anybody, and not listen to anybody but themselves if they want. |

well, Mozilla.org only said "Ben is currently not employed by Mozilla". which is true. First, I don't think that one has to be an employee or has to be paid to represent an entity. That could be merely appointment and acceptance. And AFAIK many open source projects don't have any employee at all. Ben was the "lead engineer" and was representing mozilla in that role for some time. If he continued to be the "lead engineer", he continued to represent mozilla whether get paid or not. The only question is whether he remained as the "lead engineer" after he changed his job. And evidences are positive. He couldn't have been describing himself the "lead engineer" without mozilla's implicit or explicit permission, at least not in a blog hosted by mozillazine or after this instance (the latest entry is dated 22/7). Not that I meant the blog is official, I mean that mozilla was awared of how Ben's presenting himself and accepted that. ... Hopefully you are correct and they won't do this to other competitors, especially FF/gecko based products. |

well, Mozilla.org only said "Ben is currently not employed by Mozilla". which is true.
That means "what Ben said is not an official opinion from mozilla.org", which i agree. I must say, privatey, on their own blogs, many Mozilla.org guys show the disappointed attitude towards today's NS, so there is no surprise they dont like the new NS8, but as a developer for open-source mozilla.org, they can not force other NS fans (like me) to agree with them on this. And they are not seeking people to agree with them neither, so I see no problem here. Here is the fact, i simply dont think they hate NS just because NS is producing the same products as they do, i would rather describe that attitude as "deeply disappointed towards the degradation of their be-loved brand". |

As I mentioned, and you can read in the above link, Mozilla had already clarified that Ben was no longer its employee before that instance
But interestingly Ben is still the "lead engineer of mozilla firefox" and continues to talk about the inside development of firefox in his "personal" blog hosted by mozillazine. If that's meant by "open source", more power to ya. |
